Shout Outs!

Okay, I have a few shout outs.

1. To Mom and Dad. I had such a good Christmas, even though today there is no deal hunting/money wasting happening this year for me, and I feel so grossly fat for the amount of feasting that's been done; sleep and food... I got some great gifts. My favorite has to be the wicked pen my pops made for me.. yes, made. Quilted Maple. Pictures will come soon.

2. To BYUI....please let me back in.

and last but certainly not least...

3. To my cousins Clark and Laurel (center). They BOTH graduated university, and that rocks!
And yes, I creeped these pictures from Facebook. Sue me.

Just a few more...

Nothing like a sit on Santa's lap to get your spirits up!

This is why I am still single. PROOF!

This is one of a kind documentation. A small glimpse into my life, and the real reason I'm not dating anybody... or married..or whatever. I need a man who can handle 'all this'. See for yourselves...let me know if you know a guy who could deal.

Ah, Weddings.

Nothing says "Merry Christmas" like a good Mormon wedding reception. Especially because it was for my dear friend, SAM YAM and his stellar bride, Lindy. She looked amazing, as she always does. The decorations were so well done, I almost forgot where I was. Here's to the happy couple!

And... just because it's funny... and it's that time of year again (for bridal shows that is..). Here's me in a wedding dress that I modeled for my work!

I'm Walkin' on SUNSHINE

Yes. That's correct. I am walking on sunshine. Rays of happy, yellow light streaming from who knows where.

Today, I received my grades from my very first full-time semester at the college since 2008. Yup. I did well. So well that I am submitting my marks to transfer back to BYU-I. I'm just saying... that's where I want to be. That's where I've always wanted to be.

BYU-I... here I come... again.

Christmas Time!

Thanksgiving is over, turkey is gone....next on the calender...

CHRISTMAS!

I don't get the same butterfly feeling when I think about waking up Christmas morning like I did when I was a kid... but I still have a little excitement stored up. And, I don't even have that many things on my list this year either. My list pretty much consists of this:

-A pair of the best socks: Smartwool Socks
-A New Years kiss (I've never had a real one...)
-I better car (fat chance!)
-A more adventurous spirit

To be honest, that's all I can really think of... oh, and maybe a pair of miracle jeans... you know, the ones that ALWAYS fit and ALWAYS look good! So in the spirit of Christmas, I'll forget about how much I hate the wind, the ice and the cold. I'll smile my way through final exams, and won't look at my bank account post-shopping... I'll just drink too much hot chocolate, stay in bed when I can, and listen to Baby, It's Cold Outside, over and over and over until Christmas morning finally hits.

Merry Christmas!

A New Chapter

Hello, World.

I have recently embarked on an adventure of business. As you know, I work with Brides everyday and because of that, have partial taste towards everything wedding. I realized that my creative nature is actually going to produce me some viable results. I am starting a bridal accessories line. Details and websites to follow. But what you do need to know is that I already have my first order. I'll tell you the story... because it's a good one.

Last Saturday I was at work, and had an appointment with a Bride. We went through gowns, ultimately finding her a favorite. We'll call the bride "D". D and I connected right away and so it made the appointment very enjoyable. The gown that she chose was stunning on her, but quite plain. All satin with no beading left a classic feel to the dress, but D was too imaginative and creative to wear something so plain on her wedding day. We tried on a variety of sashes and beaded pieces to add on but nothing stood out too far in her mind.

I happened to have whipped up a cute sash the night before. It was satin ribbon, with ribbon flowers, buttons and gems. It sounds 'scrapbooky', I know, but it was actually very nice I thought. And so did D. It was black, so I wore it with my outfit to work. Turns out, D wanted a black sash for her dress. So, I whipped mine off, put it on her dress and she fell in love. She turned to me, and said, "Kelly, will you make me one for my wedding?". Of course, I said yes. After she had talked with her bridesmaids, they agreed that all 4 of them wanted sashes for their dresses too. Yeah. I know.

So. I am now developing a business strategy, finding places to sell and market the products and working on my first order :)

Stay tuned!

Summer 2010

So this summer, I worked in Northern Virginia and played in Washington, D.C. Here is some proof that I was actually there, and that I had a really fun time.; playing, not working.

This video is of Julia and Katie... my two flat-mates for the summer! The shenanigans you are about to see are just a small taste of what went on every. single. day.

The Washington Monument, my Signature at the Canadian Embassy, and my first street vendor hot-dog. Yum.

The Washington, D.C. Temple, Washington Monument, Julia & I showing our Canadian Pride on July 1st, and Brad and I at Virginia Beach!!!

Brigham, Julia, Myself and Brad @ Virginia Beach, the main lobby at the Museum of Natural History, and myself at the WWII Memorial with the Lincoln Memorial in the back (below).

The End.

You will love it.

Okay, I was wrong.

As it turns out, blogging is not my favorite thing..

I figures that if I had a cute new page, then maybe the motivation would soar. I was wrong. And so I return to my old residence. I think it's time for a new look though.

So, in light of my return...my new favorite band.

It is disgusting how nice these houses are. I want to die when I come online and see what is behind the doors I knocked that day.

IT WORKED!

Already, there are results to report.
My hair is no longer fried. It is so strange. I never thought that anything short of a haircut would work. I can really, truly keep my long hair though! Mom, remember those weird fried bits you would get in your hair... well I got them too. I think it must have something to do with the hair coloring solution mixed with the heat of a flat iron. Regardless... I can honestly say that after a full night with Loreal EverStrong Overnight Repair, my hair is back to it's pre-Virginia state. A full week of this and I should have softer hair than a baby!

How to use:
-Brush your hair
-Distribute product through dry hair (I only did the ends and about halfway up my head)
-Put it up
-Sleep
-Wake up and wash out (I ate breakfast and waited a while until I did though)
-Style as usual
-TADA!

I Got Played.

So, I always thought that because of the humidity, my hair would be healthy and luscious and strong and hydrated.
Dead wrong.
Sure, my hair feels a little thicker... but it still hangs just as flat against my head if I don't do anything to it. It has also turned brittle and dry. Now this may be because of my recent "blondes have more fun" escapade. But, I have always had very healthy hair up until now. I have tried leaving my conditioner in as long as I can while in the shower, making it my first priority so I can let it soak while I suds up. I have also tried letting it air dry, hiding it from the sun, and even leaving in my conditioner in wet hair over night. That last little trick worked a tad....just a tad though. I caved and bought Loreal EverStrong Overnight Repair. SO Hopefully this works, or i'll have to cut my hair short again.
Something else I am trying is this Clearisil Face wash... because, surprise surprise...my acne phase decided to pop up years after I went through puberty. One of the upsides of High School was not having acne... but if I could have forseen that I would be college aged and getting it, then I would have gladly accepted it back then. So, yet another hopeful fix....
Oh the joys of sweating allllllll day long in intense humidity and heat. I never thought I would say it... but this weather is just about equal, if not worse, than the strong winds of Southern Alberta.

I'll be trying both for a week and then recording my findings next thursday sometime..... if I remember....no promises.

Rollercoaster riding, door knocking, parfait eatin' saleswomen...

Wednesday July 7th, 2010 was the most uncanny days of this summer so far.

To start it all off, our office went to Kings Dominion for the day. Roller coasters and fast rides, water slides and wave pools, pizza and ice cream. What more could I ask for on a hot day in July?

So here I am, just shy of 21 years old and I have never been on a roller coaster. Actually, that is not entirely true. I have been on a small one when I was about six years old. I remember everything about it. It was just a loop, a small loop, no bigger than the size of the perimeter of an average sized house. The car was a long green dragon. The ride probably went only about 15 kilometers an hour... but somehow, being absolutely terrified, I recall it he feeling of impending doom the second the bar locked around my waist. Next thing I knew I was crying and yelling for them to stop. All the while I could see my dads face at the entrance just laughing. Well, the operator stopped the ride because I was so frantic. Ever since then, I vowed never to step foot in one again. Silly me.... I was easily coaxed by my co-workers.

So there I am, strapping myself into the seat of The Dominator. Go ahead, look it up.... I was flying at a speed of 104 km/hour on this thing. I put my head down, tightened every muscle of my body, gripped onto the handle bars, closed my eyes and screamed the entire ride. I have never felt like I was about to die more in my life.

After that, I sat out for the scary rides. The crew went on The Intimidator.....try 152 km/hour. Yeah....there are even warnings of blacking out for several seconds during the ride due to sheer fact that you travel almost straight down for a full 305 feet.

After a fun but long day at Kings Dominion and drinking one, and only one 250ml bottle of Dasani Water at a whopping $3.98, I was exhausted, but still had to knock until 9pm.

Julia and I were given a street to knock just for that night because we had run out of our usual area. Luckily, I made a sale with a huge contract value! After we had knocked that street, we decided that we had better get some water so we went walking up towards a gas station. While hiking up the intersection, we crossed over to median to get past half of the traffic. As we were walking, we looked down in the grass and there was a 1$ bill. We felt like THE luckiest girls in the world. A few steps later, another and then another after that. We were scheming on what we could purchase with our $3 when we came across an envelope. We almost walked past, but thinking there would be more money inside, we picked it up. Inside there was another $1 bill. We had found the source. Also inside was someone's paycheck. $500 was the amount.

We decided to hold on to it until we could sit down in a building with AC and call him. After a few steps, we decided to split up. She would take one shoulder and I would take the other to search for more money that may have blown into the ditch. Over the next 7 minutes or so, we would each find a few more, jumping and screaming to the other across 4 lanes of traffic that we had added to our dollar bill collection. When we reached the McDonalds, we sat down and counted out 9 dollar bills. We found an address on the paycheck for a Pizza Hut in the same city, called 411, called the number and ended up talking to Timothy J O'Leary, the guy who had lost his check. 10 minutes later he was standing at our table, thanking us and telling about how he had been stressing beyond imagination for the last two days.

Needless to say, Julia and I are good samaritans....and we bought ourselves french fries and parfaits with the 9$ Timothy J O'Leary gave us as a reward.

All in a day of a door to door salesman's life.

these are a few of my favorite things....

Ben and Jerry are quickly approaching the 'more than just friends' stage... I'm tellin' ya... if there is one way to win my heart, it is this ice cream. There are literally hunks of brownie in there. Is there anything better? I think not.
These hot little numbers are a just a friendly pair of platform pumps. Although I don't own this exact pair... I will venture to say that they would make me feel equally as fiery (and tall) as the next pair of intensely desirable shoes such as these. Oh...come on....you get used to the burning on the balls of your feet and baby toes after the first 45 minutes or so... and then from then on out it's a whole lot of 'watch out world, I'm walkin' across the street'. Yeah. You know what I mean.
Above: Say 'hello' to my little friend Pomegranate, Green Tea Shampoo. Believe me... you may think she's not your type at first...but let me tell you a little something about this gal. She may come in a small, round packaging (lets face it, most of us do...) and she may seem a little vexatious when it comes to her choice of ingredients. I too had my doubts when I decided to bring her into my home.... but holy crap. This broad ain't just a sudsy mess...this shampoo is unlike anything you've ever tried. Not to mention she's pretty cheap too! Just try it, trust me (and I'm not just saying that).

Below: I have never felt so west coast in my whole life. Mom, I feel like my inner beach is coming out. I have never been a coconut fan, not like you. I will say this though.... I BELIEVE!!! Coconut has become my new best friend. It comes with me in many different forms. Sunblock, lipgloss, body spray, soda (oh yeah, I bought coconut soda...not great, but worth the 2.98) and now conditioner. I am a convert... and I ain't never lookin' back.
And last but not least....

The Beach. Virginia Beach. After a well worked, excruciating week of walking in the sun day after day knocking on doors to then hear the only knocking sound to be that of my binder against my face... I cannot tell you what a relief it was to relax at the beach; and an east coast beach no less. Who knew? I always thought that the east coast would just be a bunch of ivy league, sweater wearing, tennis playing, bourbon sipping, leather chair relaxing, fox hunting, mercedes driving stiffs... turns out I was mostly right... oh and they also love the beach like they were born on a freakin' surf board listening to the beach boys wearing board shorts. Surprise to me!

Mondays...

So today was pretty interesting out on the doors. I knocked in a gated community, got some super nice people too. I have about 5 call backs in the area for tomorrow. The real kicker was when the cop pulled up next to me and was about to write me a ticket for soliciting. I some how talked (or flirted) my way out of the $100+ ticket and actually got an "ok" to keep knocking.. so I had some ammo for the people who thought I was breaking the law. Suckers.

I also sold 2 accounts today... one of which was a 3 year contract... which means 50$ up front extra in my pocket! NICE!

It felt like a Friday today, even though it was a Monday. I love when that happens.

Virginia is for Lovers

Hey there... so I finally got around to blogging. I don't have a steady internet connection until Tuesday, so I am stuck using the boys apartment as a hotspot for the web.

Nothing too exciting here. I wake up every day, go to the gym, come home and have breakfast, get ready, go to the office, have a meeting, drive to my area, walk around for 7 hours, get picked up, go to the office to fill out paper work, drive home, go to bed, repeat.

Those are my days Monday-Saturday... Sundays are work too though... we have only a few short hours to get out fill of fun for the week... hopefully enough to rocket us into the next week with a good attitude.... but regardless, this job is really challenging. I can only cross my fingers that I make enough money to buy a car when I get back home and then pay off anything I owe to others.

Anyways.. until Tuesday, farewell... hopefully I make it through another week.

East Coast BABY!

I'm on the east coast! Allllrighttt!!!!!!! So yesterday, after an excruciatingly long day that started at approx. 2:30am... I finally made it to Woodbridge, VA. Here was my day:

2:30am- woke up, packed up the car and started for calgary.
5:15am- made it to Calgary airport and checked in. I weighed my bag and apparently the bathroom scale at home was about 13 pounds off. Had to open up my suitcase and take some things out. Gave my mom a purse to start chucking things into, including a body lotion and body wash. Then the nice airport lady who was about 45 and had her tongue peirced said "oh, you can take 2 carry-ons". So that is what I did. My big luggage weighed to 50 lbs and then I had a purse and backpack.
6:00am- Started in the line to customs. That was the longest wait ever. Finally made it to customs, passed (with flying colors).
6:05am- Ran down the corridor to security and stripped down.
6:30am- Finally my turn to walk through security and meet my stuff at the other side. Turns out I brought too many "gels and lotions". So, I had to leave half of it behind. BOO! Then, as the security girl was nosing around in everything, she came to my purse, the one that had been my 13 pound purge at check in and what did she find? My 253ml bottles of body wash and body lotion. GREAT. They were both brand new too, and 18$ a piece at that!
7:03am- Ran with my stuff to the gate and barely made it on the plane with the another straggler in front of me.
7:04am- Take off on my very first plane ride.
** Take off really was not that bad, nor was the turbulence or the people I sat beside. But the chair.... that was worse than a greyhound seat. It was hard and the neck thing was too puffy and so it made my neck sit forward. OH my goodness. I was so relieved to see earth when we started to decend. Also, I was way to chicken to get up and use the plane bathroom... I didn't want to feel overwhelmed. Being on a plane is one thing....using the bathroom on that plane is in a totally different ball park.
11:24(central time)am- So after a 3 and a bit hour plane ride, I arrived in Chicago O'Hare Airport. Fairly clean place, easy to navigate too. It was like a mall and an airport combined. It was very strange to see clothing stores everywhere, and food venues in between gates. Grabbed myself a smoothie, walked around a lot, felt like I got stared at a lot....maybe I looked Canadian too. Who knows.
1:03pm- Boarded the plane and took off from Chicago to Washington DC! I sat next to a very east coast couple. Young, both had Iphones. He wore beige chaps with a nice crease down the middle and brown leather loafers. He had a baby blue collored shirt and a v-neck pull over sweater. She wore a nice pair of jeans and nice looking sweater as well. Now, the bling on that girls finger, let me tell you.... she must have been 25 years old, tops.. and that rock must have been the size of a penny, no joke. Looks like I gotta find me an east coast man!
1:24pm- Serious turbulence. And I am not just saying that because I am a newbie at flying... It felt like we were dropping ever few seconds like a rollercoaster. The plane was shaking too. I know I am not just being sensitive to turbulence because even the people around me were gasping everytime the plane dropped suddenly. Yeah, I thought we were going to fall out of the sky.
3:35pm-landed in Reagen International Airport in Washington, DC!!!!!!! So happy to be off the plane. I had a headache, my tummy was a bit upset from all the fun it had with turbulence and the gate was a food court. Literally, I walked out of the hallway and there were table beside me with people eating pretzels. I just followed everyone else until I saw a sign that said baggage claim, walked through the whole airport and then down a flight of stairs. There were those big belts that your luggage comes rolling through on. I have never seen one of those before, only in movies. So I waited for my luggage to come out.
3:50pm- still waiting for my black suitcase... which apparently, everyone else has too. Black after black... Then some guys beside me clears his throat really loudly. Turns out it was Jake. We waited a bit, and he grabbed my luggage off the belt once it finally came through.
4:00pm- Went outside and found Mary-Anne!

Then for the rest of the evening it was a driving tour of things exciting that were on our way home. We arrived home, chatted, and then ate a yummy supper of Enchiladas! Uncle David and Mary-Anne went to the doctors and Jake and I attempted to rent a movie at Redbox.

At the first Redbox, there were a bunch of mexican gangsters and we didnt want to get up in their grills... so we found another one at a different 7-11, and still walked away with no movie, but did walk away with our lives. I know, a tad dramatic, but I am still getting used to seeing gangs. Lethbridge has Natives, right? They are basically harmless because they are only in the city for one thing...to find anything to get high off of. They are relaxed and pretty friendly. Rexburg was no different. I barely ever ventured past the few main streets and campus, and half the city was mormon anyways, so it was no big deal.

Regardless, I love it here. I think I may want to just stay here forever. Seriously.

Okay, Okay...Update.

So, It is April 20.

I haven't updated my blog in months. To be honest, I have been busy this last semester. I took 2 online classes (don't ask about those classes unless you want me to lie), worked full time at the Bridal Shop, participated in 2 full-time choirs, had a weekly institute evening class and even juggled a few dates. I had good excuses for not blogging.

But now, the semester is over. Finals have been written and passed with flying colors (*cough cough), institute has ended, choirs have performed and work has shifted gears. Yes, I have more time on my hands so back to blogging it is.

So, as of late....I have made some pretty interesting decisions. I asked for a raise at work and was put on another two week review. The first one, which was full of praise might I add, was apparently just a frank conversation with my bosses. The whole 'getting more money' thing is an actual seperate event. Who knew? So within my two week review period, not only did I work for 12 days straight (because of illnesses and bridal shows which I had to model for), I had to study and write two final exams and do a choir performance. On day 12 I made the split decision to leave a week and a half later for a permanent summer position in Virginia. So, not only was that whole 12-day work week from you know where, a total waste of my energy trying to be superwoman to be worthy of a raise... I was also throwing myself into a potentially insane situation.

So, when I told my bosses my decision to leave...they were shocked. I mean, it didn't go near as badly as I had anticipated. In fact, my boss told me that if things didn't work out that when I came home I would have my job back and she wouldn't actually take me off payroll until September or a when (and if) she got a phone call. That was a cha-ching moment for me! I didn't get that raise I wanted, but that was fine... when I come back, I'll ask for it. This summer, i'll be knocking on doors, getting a wicked tan and going on a complete adventure. I can't wait to be on my own again...

Why, hello freedom...we meet again.

It's about time...

This weekend was great. I am going to lay this all out for you.

Friday: I worked all day (not the best part)
Friday Night: There was a dance. Yes, a dance; and I danced my heart out. I don't know about you, but at the end of the week when I am completely exhausted and feel slightly defeated, I like to dance it all away. It's a good theory and has proved itself time and time again.

Saturday: Worked all day and made some wicked commission. (Yes!)
Saturday Night: Karaoke @ El Comel Mexican restaurant. Fun and random. Not to mention my car getting egged as I drove home. Joy and splendor I tell ya! Nothing like scraping egg off your windshield at 1 am.

Sunday: Church (always a good thing)
Sunday Afternoon: Watched the Olympic torch being handed off and lit between two runners. I got free stuff and some sweet pictures.
Sunday Night: Festivities at Henderson Park, celebrating the Olympics in Canada, fireworks and then later on...some awesome movies and hot chocolate with a friend until the wee hours of the morning.

I am completely satisfied with my awesome weekend.

My new Boyfriend.

Yes, I have fallen in love.

His name is mac. He is white, about 6 pounds and has an array of amazing features and programs. I don't have to change him because he is already everything I could ever want. He organizes my files and pictures without being asked and never asks me silly questions about what I want to do after I have already told him. He remembers my favorite websites and doesn't mind if I am always checking my email or on facebook, because the more I use him the closer we get. I don't have to feed him, or listen to his problems or rub his back in church, he is just there when I need him. He sleeps when I am away so I know he is faithful. He wont break my heart, because he doesn't actually know I have one and a heart wouldn't be any use to him.

I never have to worry about him. He is the perfect boyfriend.

I highly doubt that Lethbridge can produce anything remotely close in human form.

January 6, 2010.

It's a new year. Finally.
I feel like I have been waiting forever for a new year to start; a new leaf to turn. And, I should recognize the leaves that did turn, but there are also those pesky leaves that stayed exactly where they were. Frustrating!

The leaves that did turn, happend in quite a timely matter. 1st leaf: I got all my ducks in a row and have started my very first online university course. In math. Go figure. My least favorite class and I am more or less attempting to teach myself. 2nd leaf:I bought a computer. It cost me both arms and a leg, and I feel sick to my stomach every time I think about the price of that shiny, white, 13" computer, but atleast I can still hobble around, right? 3rd leaf: I work 5 days a week. Now, that may not seem like a lot to some people, but previous to December of 2009, I never worked a full 5-day week unless I begged to come in when people had the sniffles. That didn't happen much. So, it is nice to be freely given the opportunity to make money, cause heaven knows I need to see more green!

Pesky leaves:
1) I was all alone for new years. Not a phone call, not a text, not a facebook post. Not one of the friends I thought I had made tried to contact me at all. Major disapointment, a bucket full of tears and a couple roles of toilet paper. Literally. It's a sob story, but it happened....so it's still pathetic, but atleast I have a blog to vent about it.

2) I am in debt. Again. School attempt #1 is still in the hole... only a few hundred dollars, but still a deep hole. A new computer; remember how I said I felt like throwing up when I thought about it? Yup, a feeling like that wont go away and until I am level with my debt. I have online classes and tuition and text books to pay for. Ugh, forget the spoons, i'm already gagging.

3) Off hand, I can't really think about the rest of those darn leaves in my life.... but I do have a headache...and I have had it for the whole day despite efforts of nutrition, hydration and rest. I give up.

So if you'd like you can laugh, or sympathize or roll you eyes. Either way, I can't see or hear you anyways so it would only be for your own benefit. I think 2010 has a lot instore. Positive and negative. I am not sure which one will take the cake, tip the scales and win... but my money is on the positive. My mom always tells me I am a "glass half empty"-person; I call that being a realist. But this year, I will do, not try, but I will pour my glass a little nicer in hopes that more drops end up in my cup rather than beside it.

So cheers to 2010, I sure hope you know what you're doing... cause I sure don't.
