Virginia is for Lovers

Hey there... so I finally got around to blogging. I don't have a steady internet connection until Tuesday, so I am stuck using the boys apartment as a hotspot for the web.

Nothing too exciting here. I wake up every day, go to the gym, come home and have breakfast, get ready, go to the office, have a meeting, drive to my area, walk around for 7 hours, get picked up, go to the office to fill out paper work, drive home, go to bed, repeat.

Those are my days Monday-Saturday... Sundays are work too though... we have only a few short hours to get out fill of fun for the week... hopefully enough to rocket us into the next week with a good attitude.... but regardless, this job is really challenging. I can only cross my fingers that I make enough money to buy a car when I get back home and then pay off anything I owe to others.

Anyways.. until Tuesday, farewell... hopefully I make it through another week.

East Coast BABY!

I'm on the east coast! Allllrighttt!!!!!!! So yesterday, after an excruciatingly long day that started at approx. 2:30am... I finally made it to Woodbridge, VA. Here was my day:

2:30am- woke up, packed up the car and started for calgary.
5:15am- made it to Calgary airport and checked in. I weighed my bag and apparently the bathroom scale at home was about 13 pounds off. Had to open up my suitcase and take some things out. Gave my mom a purse to start chucking things into, including a body lotion and body wash. Then the nice airport lady who was about 45 and had her tongue peirced said "oh, you can take 2 carry-ons". So that is what I did. My big luggage weighed to 50 lbs and then I had a purse and backpack.
6:00am- Started in the line to customs. That was the longest wait ever. Finally made it to customs, passed (with flying colors).
6:05am- Ran down the corridor to security and stripped down.
6:30am- Finally my turn to walk through security and meet my stuff at the other side. Turns out I brought too many "gels and lotions". So, I had to leave half of it behind. BOO! Then, as the security girl was nosing around in everything, she came to my purse, the one that had been my 13 pound purge at check in and what did she find? My 253ml bottles of body wash and body lotion. GREAT. They were both brand new too, and 18$ a piece at that!
7:03am- Ran with my stuff to the gate and barely made it on the plane with the another straggler in front of me.
7:04am- Take off on my very first plane ride.
** Take off really was not that bad, nor was the turbulence or the people I sat beside. But the chair.... that was worse than a greyhound seat. It was hard and the neck thing was too puffy and so it made my neck sit forward. OH my goodness. I was so relieved to see earth when we started to decend. Also, I was way to chicken to get up and use the plane bathroom... I didn't want to feel overwhelmed. Being on a plane is one thing....using the bathroom on that plane is in a totally different ball park.
11:24(central time)am- So after a 3 and a bit hour plane ride, I arrived in Chicago O'Hare Airport. Fairly clean place, easy to navigate too. It was like a mall and an airport combined. It was very strange to see clothing stores everywhere, and food venues in between gates. Grabbed myself a smoothie, walked around a lot, felt like I got stared at a lot....maybe I looked Canadian too. Who knows.
1:03pm- Boarded the plane and took off from Chicago to Washington DC! I sat next to a very east coast couple. Young, both had Iphones. He wore beige chaps with a nice crease down the middle and brown leather loafers. He had a baby blue collored shirt and a v-neck pull over sweater. She wore a nice pair of jeans and nice looking sweater as well. Now, the bling on that girls finger, let me tell you.... she must have been 25 years old, tops.. and that rock must have been the size of a penny, no joke. Looks like I gotta find me an east coast man!
1:24pm- Serious turbulence. And I am not just saying that because I am a newbie at flying... It felt like we were dropping ever few seconds like a rollercoaster. The plane was shaking too. I know I am not just being sensitive to turbulence because even the people around me were gasping everytime the plane dropped suddenly. Yeah, I thought we were going to fall out of the sky.
3:35pm-landed in Reagen International Airport in Washington, DC!!!!!!! So happy to be off the plane. I had a headache, my tummy was a bit upset from all the fun it had with turbulence and the gate was a food court. Literally, I walked out of the hallway and there were table beside me with people eating pretzels. I just followed everyone else until I saw a sign that said baggage claim, walked through the whole airport and then down a flight of stairs. There were those big belts that your luggage comes rolling through on. I have never seen one of those before, only in movies. So I waited for my luggage to come out.
3:50pm- still waiting for my black suitcase... which apparently, everyone else has too. Black after black... Then some guys beside me clears his throat really loudly. Turns out it was Jake. We waited a bit, and he grabbed my luggage off the belt once it finally came through.
4:00pm- Went outside and found Mary-Anne!

Then for the rest of the evening it was a driving tour of things exciting that were on our way home. We arrived home, chatted, and then ate a yummy supper of Enchiladas! Uncle David and Mary-Anne went to the doctors and Jake and I attempted to rent a movie at Redbox.

At the first Redbox, there were a bunch of mexican gangsters and we didnt want to get up in their grills... so we found another one at a different 7-11, and still walked away with no movie, but did walk away with our lives. I know, a tad dramatic, but I am still getting used to seeing gangs. Lethbridge has Natives, right? They are basically harmless because they are only in the city for one thing...to find anything to get high off of. They are relaxed and pretty friendly. Rexburg was no different. I barely ever ventured past the few main streets and campus, and half the city was mormon anyways, so it was no big deal.

Regardless, I love it here. I think I may want to just stay here forever. Seriously.

Okay, Okay...Update.

So, It is April 20.

I haven't updated my blog in months. To be honest, I have been busy this last semester. I took 2 online classes (don't ask about those classes unless you want me to lie), worked full time at the Bridal Shop, participated in 2 full-time choirs, had a weekly institute evening class and even juggled a few dates. I had good excuses for not blogging.

But now, the semester is over. Finals have been written and passed with flying colors (*cough cough), institute has ended, choirs have performed and work has shifted gears. Yes, I have more time on my hands so back to blogging it is.

So, as of late....I have made some pretty interesting decisions. I asked for a raise at work and was put on another two week review. The first one, which was full of praise might I add, was apparently just a frank conversation with my bosses. The whole 'getting more money' thing is an actual seperate event. Who knew? So within my two week review period, not only did I work for 12 days straight (because of illnesses and bridal shows which I had to model for), I had to study and write two final exams and do a choir performance. On day 12 I made the split decision to leave a week and a half later for a permanent summer position in Virginia. So, not only was that whole 12-day work week from you know where, a total waste of my energy trying to be superwoman to be worthy of a raise... I was also throwing myself into a potentially insane situation.

So, when I told my bosses my decision to leave...they were shocked. I mean, it didn't go near as badly as I had anticipated. In fact, my boss told me that if things didn't work out that when I came home I would have my job back and she wouldn't actually take me off payroll until September or a when (and if) she got a phone call. That was a cha-ching moment for me! I didn't get that raise I wanted, but that was fine... when I come back, I'll ask for it. This summer, i'll be knocking on doors, getting a wicked tan and going on a complete adventure. I can't wait to be on my own again...

Why, hello freedom...we meet again.

It's about time...

This weekend was great. I am going to lay this all out for you.

Friday: I worked all day (not the best part)
Friday Night: There was a dance. Yes, a dance; and I danced my heart out. I don't know about you, but at the end of the week when I am completely exhausted and feel slightly defeated, I like to dance it all away. It's a good theory and has proved itself time and time again.

Saturday: Worked all day and made some wicked commission. (Yes!)
Saturday Night: Karaoke @ El Comel Mexican restaurant. Fun and random. Not to mention my car getting egged as I drove home. Joy and splendor I tell ya! Nothing like scraping egg off your windshield at 1 am.

Sunday: Church (always a good thing)
Sunday Afternoon: Watched the Olympic torch being handed off and lit between two runners. I got free stuff and some sweet pictures.
Sunday Night: Festivities at Henderson Park, celebrating the Olympics in Canada, fireworks and then later on...some awesome movies and hot chocolate with a friend until the wee hours of the morning.

I am completely satisfied with my awesome weekend.

My new Boyfriend.

Yes, I have fallen in love.

His name is mac. He is white, about 6 pounds and has an array of amazing features and programs. I don't have to change him because he is already everything I could ever want. He organizes my files and pictures without being asked and never asks me silly questions about what I want to do after I have already told him. He remembers my favorite websites and doesn't mind if I am always checking my email or on facebook, because the more I use him the closer we get. I don't have to feed him, or listen to his problems or rub his back in church, he is just there when I need him. He sleeps when I am away so I know he is faithful. He wont break my heart, because he doesn't actually know I have one and a heart wouldn't be any use to him.

I never have to worry about him. He is the perfect boyfriend.

I highly doubt that Lethbridge can produce anything remotely close in human form.

January 6, 2010.

It's a new year. Finally.
I feel like I have been waiting forever for a new year to start; a new leaf to turn. And, I should recognize the leaves that did turn, but there are also those pesky leaves that stayed exactly where they were. Frustrating!

The leaves that did turn, happend in quite a timely matter. 1st leaf: I got all my ducks in a row and have started my very first online university course. In math. Go figure. My least favorite class and I am more or less attempting to teach myself. 2nd leaf:I bought a computer. It cost me both arms and a leg, and I feel sick to my stomach every time I think about the price of that shiny, white, 13" computer, but atleast I can still hobble around, right? 3rd leaf: I work 5 days a week. Now, that may not seem like a lot to some people, but previous to December of 2009, I never worked a full 5-day week unless I begged to come in when people had the sniffles. That didn't happen much. So, it is nice to be freely given the opportunity to make money, cause heaven knows I need to see more green!

Pesky leaves:
1) I was all alone for new years. Not a phone call, not a text, not a facebook post. Not one of the friends I thought I had made tried to contact me at all. Major disapointment, a bucket full of tears and a couple roles of toilet paper. Literally. It's a sob story, but it happened....so it's still pathetic, but atleast I have a blog to vent about it.

2) I am in debt. Again. School attempt #1 is still in the hole... only a few hundred dollars, but still a deep hole. A new computer; remember how I said I felt like throwing up when I thought about it? Yup, a feeling like that wont go away and until I am level with my debt. I have online classes and tuition and text books to pay for. Ugh, forget the spoons, i'm already gagging.

3) Off hand, I can't really think about the rest of those darn leaves in my life.... but I do have a headache...and I have had it for the whole day despite efforts of nutrition, hydration and rest. I give up.

So if you'd like you can laugh, or sympathize or roll you eyes. Either way, I can't see or hear you anyways so it would only be for your own benefit. I think 2010 has a lot instore. Positive and negative. I am not sure which one will take the cake, tip the scales and win... but my money is on the positive. My mom always tells me I am a "glass half empty"-person; I call that being a realist. But this year, I will do, not try, but I will pour my glass a little nicer in hopes that more drops end up in my cup rather than beside it.

So cheers to 2010, I sure hope you know what you're doing... cause I sure don't.
